Testimonials

Nina: I just wanted to thank you for putting together the health fair.  I attended with my daughter and it was great to hear Gary Scheiner speak.  I loved that he presented the facts with humor, and when it’s coming from someone who lives with T1 it certainly validates the advice.  I’m just glad we were both able to attend and congratulations to your achievement of living with T1 for 50 years.  As a parent it gives me a whole lot of hope to see someone who sets a shining example.

Abby: I just wanted to thank you for what you do! I have been having a really tough time since my diagnosis and coming to the support group is the most helpful thing I’ve done so far. It feels so great to know other people are going through or have gone through the exact same feelings that I have. Bill and I both agreed it is a wonderful thing, and we both learned so much.

Marge: Thanks for all you do to support each of us. This group has been a welcome respite! I always go away with a nugget or two of information to help continue… and the video series is good. I found the discussion interesting as everyone was so honest… and having Ellie present was helpful. I had never heard that the statement that if you don’t have complications after 20 years you likely won’t…. which to me was very encouraging. I agree that all of us tend to set the bar really high for acceptable control… probably that’s good, but we need to live too!!!

Kris: Thanks for all of your hard work. You should know that I usually have my tester with me now. Because of my new diligence, my A1c went from 7.6 to 7.0 last week. I believe that I did better in the last month than the previous 2. I am hoping to do better on my test in 4 months. Much of it is because of your efforts in keep this group alive and interesting. Thanks!! By the way, I am now dependent on my Dexcom and am lost without it. I am not sure I would have it if not for you.

Carolyn: Thank you so much for the invaluable presentation tonight, and for serving as a committed, caring, and humorous guinea pig for almost everything. I learned a ton, and can’t wait to share with my kids.

Sue: I’m so happy I found the group! Sounds fantastic…kudos to you again for providing the group with an informational speaker.

Katie: I really enjoyed the meeting! Thanks for the encouragement– it’s funny how not even my good endocrinologists have ever really communicated this to me, and don’t even get me started on the nonchalance of most non-endo docs!

Suzanne: That was a good meeting last night. I forget sometimes just how nice it is to be in a room full of people who “get it.” 🙂

Tyler: I had a great time at the meeting and it was really nice to meet you in person 🙂 It was wonderful to hear from everyone present – especially the part that all One Touch strips at #25 – who knew?! I look forward to the next meeting!

Melanie: I really enjoyed the meeting. It’s truly refreshing to be with a group of people who understand my life in a way that nearly everyone else simply can’t. And, I’ve definitely learned some valuable things from the 2 meetings I’ve been to. I only wish I had found the group sooner. I do look forward to attending more meetings and would love to do some lunchtime meetings if people are still interested.

Mike: I was diagnosed three years ago and just discovered this group 6 months ago. In the first meeting, I doubled my knowledge of type one diabetes! It was great to be in a room full of people who were free to talk about all the details of managing and dealing with type one diabetes.

Dan: You get so much more from first hand experiences. It is a relief to make these connections. And thank you for being so welcoming to the group.

Jim: I’ve never been in a room with so many knowledgeable diabetics talking about a way of life only we truly understand. Thanks as always for your support and friendship.

Ellie Fedderson, CDE Northshore University: I continue to be grateful for your dedication to keeping your group going. You are helping many people. I tell many of my type 1 patients that even if they can’t make the group and want to feel connected they should join your list serve.
You are a very savvy inquisitive group all doing your best with the tools you have to manage ( don’t think you can ever really control it) the unpredictability of this disease. I enjoyed tonight’s program

Robert: Having and utilizing the services of a knowledgeable and empathetic diabetic support group like Type One Diabetes Lounge is at least half the battle to accomplishing control over your diabetes rather than it controlling you.

Ivette: I think that everyone that attends is great and I’m thankful that such a group exists.  I’ve walked away from the last couple of meetings having learned something new, and I’m looking forward to learning much more.  Thanks for all you do.
